Summary: On September 2, 1939, Martin Anderson was fighting the 8000 Fire near Gleason Mountain on the Kaniksu National Forest, WA when he was struck by a burning snag. Although his fellow firefighters carried him by stretcher for six hours trying to save his life, he did not survive.
